Year’s ago way back in the 90′s, on a bright sunny day in Southern California, we lived in the San Fernando Valley. And one day, there were some men who decided to rob one of the biggest banks in the area. This was a huge breaking story and my wife and step-daughter were stuck at a 7-11 right near the bank because they closed off the entire area.
Marko wants to become a filmmaker and he focuses all his energies to get this goal. But as he realizes that his dream is almost impossible (and his father sets up his mind not to finance his aspirations anymore) he decides to shift his attention on another kind of market: porn.
One of our greatest writer’s of all time, Stephen King, has brought us many, many wonderful tales of horror, susupense, and wonderment. Over the years, some of these tales have been brought to the big and little screen. There hasn’t been a Stephen King film since 2007 which was The Mist and 1408, however, there hasn’t been a King film made for T.V. since 2006 which was Desperation, directed by Mick Garris. Well, Garris is back behind the camera again with his latest adaptation of a Stephen King novel.
So, I have seen a lot of films in my 39 years, so many that sooner or later you are bound to come across a film that just is the biggest piece of crap, the worst acting, the brainless storyline and horrible F/X. I thought when I saw films such as Halloween 3, Jaws:the Revenge, Jennifer’s Body, Twilight and a few others, that those were the worst.
Everyone who knows me, knows that I am one of the biggest 80′s fans out there. It was my time, my Generation, & oh, what fun we had! In the year 1981, it was an interesting time for films. JAWS and STAR WARS ruled the 70′s, and with EMPIRE STRIKES BACK taking over as the biggest film of 1980, the 80′s were off to a good start and it would only get better! In 1981, in the world of Horror films, there was basically one thing that ruled the box office: slasher films!
Where to begin… It is hard to believe it has been 50 years since the Master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, showed us that it’s not always safe to take a shower. To never stop at a motel in the middle of nowhere. That a boys best friend is his mother. And that he can scare the crap out of us even 50 years later! THAT is pure genesis that will never be duplicated again. Call it, lightning in a bottle. The man himself inspired film makers for generations. His style of horror film & storytelling inspired us. He changed the way we look at horror films forever and in my oppinion, very few could be put in the same league as Psycho.
Summer has started months ago. There is one tradition that I do this time of the year as a personal way of kicking off the best season of the year and that is, I watch the Classic film Jaws. When you think of the 1970′s, many things come to mind. Such as the Vietnam war, pet rocks, hot rods, cool music (well, some of it was), horrible fashions and hair. There was also some of the Best films we’ve ever made come out of the 70′s: The Godfather, The Exorcist, Star Wars, Satuday Night Fever, Grease and many others. However, there is one that started the trend of Summer Block Busters that was a little film about a big, big shark. That Classic film is Jaws.
Inventory is directed by F.C. Rabbath and stars Laura Johnson and Owen Provenschen. The story takes place in the back alley’s of the busy city. A young business woman (Johnson), is talking away on her cell phone about her work. Very busy and sidetracked, she doesn’t realize the strange homeless man (Provenschen) sitting in the alley watching her. He smiles knowing this just might be his next “victim”.
Many directors have brought the terrifying works of Stephen King to the big screen and television. The Master of Horror on the written page, has had many films adapted from his work by great directors such as Stanley Kubrick, Brian De Palma, George A. Romero, Rob Reiner, and Frank Darabont, just to name a few. However, there is one director who has captured King’s vision very nicely and many times Mick Garris.
