This is a film program started by King many years ago to help Independent filmmakers get into the film industry and let the world see their work. This time, it is from filmmaker, Rodney Altman and his “Dollar Baby” film, Umney’s Last Case.

When it comes to Stephen King new releases, it doesn’t matter what time of year it is, to King fans it feels like Christmas. A new King book release is an event in itself. When I was growing up, there was one thing you could bet on in the month of October: Horror movies at your local movie theater. We couldn’t wait to see the next sequel of either Friday the 13th, Halloween, or Nightmare on Elm St. It was the 80′s, they were silly cheese, but they were a lot of fun. I have said many times that I enjoy films that are “hidden treasures” (films that came out that you might’ve missed, but discover later and end up being quite surprised). Discovering these “quieter” films that have slipped past us because of films like Iron Man 3 or Pacific Rim hogging the box office, it is a treat to discover them at home and sometimes they take us by surprise. In this case, Spring breakers took me by a huge surprise.
