One of the joys of being a writer and supporting Independent talent is, the amazing discoveries you make along the way. It doesn’t matter if it’s an Artist painting, a new young face on the music scene performing at a club, a short film being played at a film fest, or in this case, an author releasing their new self-published book. As a full supporter of Indie’s, I get a lot of joy spreading the word when I, myself, discover these type of talents. Case in point, author Shawn S. Lealos new book: Dollar baby: The Story of the Stephen King Dollar Baby Filmmakers.

Some filmmakers take several films before they have a true box-office hit on their hands. For M. Night Shyamalan, he hit it out of the ballpark his very first film, The sixth sense in 1999. Since then, he has had a string of misses and very few hits…..until now. M. Night has redeemed himself with his latest scarefest, The visit. This “Twilight Zone” style tale is fitting for this time of year…Pre-Fall…Halloween time coming up…and in typical M. Night tradition there is a plot twist you will not see coming!

As an atheist I’m typically not a fan of religious films. That said The Fallen is an outstanding dark re-telling of the story of Genesis by first time director Gabriel Kipling Tyner. The film starts off of course in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve, granted there is a bit a stretch that they aren’t naked however this film re-creates and the interpretation of the story in a very artistic format.

Eli Roth’s The Green Inferno has finally got release dates, after the usual Festivals screenings in 2013, the film had been set for a September 5 release date the next year, but then suddenly it was pulled from the schedules over internal problems at financiers “Worldview Entertainment”. When Christopher Woodrow, who was CEO, left the company with little warning in June 2014, the company’s new management did put a halt to spending based on deals made by the guy who used to lead “Worldview”, the company was committed to paying some of the big costs associated with theatrical distribution, as a result The Green Inferno release had been delayed indefinitely and it’s been in limbo ever since, but is now finally set to emerge thanks to a new deal with Jason Blum‘s distribution label “BH-Tilt”.

What do you get when you cross the comedic dialogue brilliance of Kevin Smith, the grittiness of an 80’s Able Ferrara and the sleazy fun of Russ Myer? You get the films of Sean Weathers.
